Do Yourself a Favor and Keep Your Gas Tank Filled in the Winter

It just makes sense to do all that you possibly can to keep your car running as well as possible during the winter. Not only is it good for your car, but it is safer for you if you can keep from being stranded somewhere in the cold.

Keeping your gas tank as full as possible at all times is not only a good idea from a practical standpoint, it makes sense from a maintenance factor as well. There is a rumor that if you only keep a small amount of gas in your tank, then you will get better gas mileage. That is truly a false rumor because a tank that is close to empty will do nothing for your gas mileage.

On the other hand, if you have a near empty tank in the winter, the air in your tank that contains moisture can severely affect the operation of your vehicle. The moisture can condense and freeze in the gas line to the engine, making it probable that your car won't start.

Even if you add gas more often in smaller amounts, you will go a long way in protecting your vehicle.
