Dealing with Road Salt

It is nearly impossible to avoid road salt if you have to drive your vehicle in snow or ice. Road salt can be very helpful in eliminating ice patches, but it has the potential to damage the car paint when left on there for too long.

Plan to have your car completely waxed before winter arrives so that it has a base layer of protection against the buildup of road salt. As soon as you see some salt on your car, have it washed immediately. Washing your car in below freezing temperatures can further damage the paint, however.

If you notice a chip in the paint after the accumulation of road salt, take your car to Frontier Honda in Longmont to have it repaired immediately. This will help prevent rust from taking over and spreading to other parts of your car as the paint chip grows. Failure to do so can result in permanent corrosion.
