What Does Brake Fluid Do?

There are a lot of terms surrounding car maintenance that we hear all the time without always knowing what they mean. While it sounds important, it's not exactly clear from the name what brake fluid is or why it matters.

Your brakes are part of a closed system of several moving parts that all work together to slow your vehicle. The link binding all of the pistons and rotors in this system is the brake fluid, which acts as to deliver the force that comes from your foot on the brake to each of the wheels. When you step on the brake, this action causes brake fluid to move through narrow hoses to the rotors, which squeeze the brake pads, slowing your wheels and bringing the car to a stop.

If you've noticed your brakes aren't as responsive as they used to be, bring your car by Frontier Honda to have the system thoroughly inspected by one of our competent mechanics.
